Summers are a busy time of the year. Here are some short one-and-done opportunities for you to volunteer for in the Purple Carrot Market. If positions are not filled a volunteer calling will be making calls. Please say, "Yes!" if you get one of these calls. Like the proverb says, "Many hands make light work."
We will once again be selling Palisade, Colorado Peaches to our Purple Carrot Market owners.
Debra Yliniemi-Ahlin owner #262, has a connection to an orchard in Palisade, Colorado. They are Non GMO and has been minimally sprayed. There are about 30-40 peaches per case. The weight of each case is approximately 20 pounds. Colorado Peaches are fantastic fresh, can be used for making pies and can be frozen or canned. Debra purchased 50 cases; cost per case is $50. There is a limit of 1 case per household. It's a one time purchase so there is only one delivery date. Don't delay, order today! Pick up date is approximately August 12th. Great River Arts has a community art project they would like the Purple Carrot Market to be a participant. Leading this community art project are Judith Hecht owner #40 and Maria Schumer. The community art project will be done during the July Pop-Up Market. The project has 25 individual clay pieces that need to have stamp designs stamped into them and a pre glaze painted on. It could take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes for each piece, and there is room for multiple people at the table at the same time. This will make about a 24" x 24" wall art piece. Adults and children of all age are encouraged to participate.
Due to winter kill and drought, Stone Hill Farms were not able to do a strawberry sale this year for the Purple Carrot Market. The good new is that Sprout has an Amish farm source in Classica, Eagle Valley Organics. They are sold out for this week, but check their online store, powered by Barn2Door Monday evening for strawberry availability. If strawberries are available, place your order by 8 am Wednesday, June 28th then pick up later that day between 1:30-5:30 pm at Sprout MN door 8. Place your order right away when you see them listed because they could potentially sell out.
